Thanks for visiting my blog. Here you'll find inspiration, imagination, and information - writing tips and exercises, contests, conferences, editing, proofreading, and critique services.
Although I'm not currently updating contest and conference information, these run annually and you can still go to the various websites for information on the current deadlines for application.
My current project - what I'm really excited about - is inspired by Jane Austen's wonderful novel, Sense and Sensibility. It's called 'Embarking on a Course of Study' and here are the details: "A writer, reader, and Austen lover spends a year (or more) embarking on a course of study similar to that probably undertaken by Marianne in Sense and Sensibility, without the benefit of Colonel Brandon’s library and with room for diversions, digressions, and (hopefully) fun fieldwork."
I've already attended an English Country Dance, started a silk ribbon embroidery project, found an archery class, made a huge list of books, contacted the Jane Austen Society of North America (and pissed off the president to boot - she wrote me several not-so-nice comments, which I've shared on the blog), and visited the ruins of a local finishing school here in Baltimore. I'm working on finding a milliner and would love to find a class on Greek and Latin.
The first of my interviews with college professors who teach Austen or scholars who study her work, is next month.

If you'd like to contact me about editing, proofreading, or critique services, click on 'email me' or post a comment (which I'll receive) and please provide the details of your writing project (type (poems, stories, novels, plays), genre, length, goals, etc.).
Enjoy your time here and feel free to post comments. I love to hear from other writers. I will get back to posting more regularly in the new year.
